Should i take a pro-biotic whilst im on antibiotics?

Resolved Question

Should i take a pro-biotic whilst im on antibiotics?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Yes, you should take probiotic capsules whenever you must take an antibiotic. However, you must NOT take them at the same time. You must wait a good two hours in between.

It is rather silly to wait until you have either diarrhea or a yeast infection to start taking them, especially when it is so easy to prevent these side effects from occurring in the first place.

  • No
And there is usually no need to take them after unless you are having any symptoms suggestive of the loss of your normal gut bacteria, typically diarrhea.
The role of probiotics and the "harm" of anti-bacterials is vastly over-rated by Alty community. Probiotics are not a panacea, and the industry that has been built up around their promotion is self-serving and profit motivated, not health motivated.
  • You should take it when you have finished your antibiotics to regain the balance in your stomach, probiotics can diminish the effectiveness of the antibiotics.
  • Only if you can take it opposite of when you take the antibiotics.
If you take the antibiotics too often then wait until you are finished.
  • You should take probiotics when you are finished with your antibiotics, teh antibiotics will kill the bacteria so you will be wasting you $$
  • why the hell not?
