Yes, you can. Even if you don't it cause some serious bodily harm.

Don't drink excess amounts of any cough medicine containing anything other than DXM. Not that doing that is smart in the first place, but whatever, at least it doesn't cause any serious damage.

  • Short answer - problably not
    Symptoms of a phenylephrine overdose include extreme tiredness, sweating, dizziness, a slow heartbeat, and coma.

    DXM can causeuncontrollable movements of your eyes, lips, tongue, face, arms, or legs;
    tremors, twitching, or uncontrolled muscle movements in your face, arms, or legs.
    severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness;
    hallucinations (seeing or hearing things);
    confusion, hallucinations; or
    slow, shallow breathing, weak pulse;
    nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or
    fever, muscle stiffness, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeat, sweating, fainting.

    Doesn't sound like much fun to me. Tell your friend to find a hobby.
  • You can O.D. on anything in sufficient quantity.

    That's why the box says "Use as directed." That means, use as directed and don't drink too much or you may die a horrible, painful death.
