Tablets + Sinus Infection?

Resolved Question

Tablets + Sinus Infection?

I have a Sinus Infection my doctor said, and told me to take Alphamox Amoxycillin...... some sites said it doesn't help..... is this true?

Also, with tablets, is it only the powdery stuff inside that counts? Not the capsul covering.... I don't like taking tablets, I have to have them crushed up...... and then drink it (with water)...... I just can't <.<

So basically, My Q's are:
- Does Amoxycillin help Sinus Infection
- Does crushing the tablet up and drinking it in small pieces have any difference from taking it whole?

amoxycillin is one of the most popular antibiotics given for a sinus infection. however, now a days a lot of people have became resistant to the effects of amoxycillin. it should be able to take care of your infection though. and to your second question, the capsule is a very important part of the pill. it makes the pill extended release thats why you only have to take it every 6 or 12 hours. if you crushed it up and only took the powdered stuff your body would absorb all the medicine in one shot causing a lot of stomach upset and the medicine would lose its effectiveness. try eating it with apple sauce, thats what we do with patients in the hospital who can't take pills. feel better!
