Best way to get rid of a cold?

Resolved Question

Best way to get rid of a cold?

What is the best way to nip a cold in the bud? Today I just have a runny nose (well one nostril to be precise!) but I don't want this to go into a full blown cold as I'm going on holiday on Monday. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Get yourself some quality echinacea (extract is better than pills, but quality pills will work) and take a lot of it several times a day. In addition, get some good quality colloidal silver and take two to four ounces a day for the next four days or so. Also use the colloidal silver in a nose spray bottle or a pump mister of some other kind and thoroughly irrigate your nostrils with it. That should do the trick and virtually always stops a cold in its tracks for me.

Here are some other suggestions for even better odds of success:

Take lots and lots of garlic, along with cayenne pepper, ginger, Vitamin C in large doses, honey (Manuka honey or locally grown organic is best), some blackstrap molasses, magnesium and zinc. Eat a couple of bowls of chicken soup daily. And make up some elderberry tea and drink several glasses a day.

If you do those, please be sure to come back and report your results to counter the naysayers who would have you believe that, since mainstream medicine has no answers, there is no cure of the common cold and that it simply has to run its course.

  • Hi,

For a cure you should try one of a wide range of Manuka Honey products. I use Manuka Honey for a load of reasons.

Active Manuka Honey is a natural antibacterial honey which nourishes as well as promotes tissue re-growth. It's antibacterial properties inhibit a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi. It can be used to treat MRSA, ulcers, upset stomachs, diarrhoea, sore throats and colds.

Here are some comments from other users:

"The Manuka honey products are a miracle,I went down with a cold last saturday,at the first sign I took the manuka capsules and sucked the lozenges, still streaming on Sunday, felt rough, went to bed during afternoon, still taking the capsules and lozenges, nothing else but a couple of spoonfuls of manuka honey during the night,Monday morning, woke up and no sign of a cold at all,it was as if Id never had one,my friend, who had the cold, at the same time, has been off work all this week!!!!Thankyou for the Manuka honey products."

"I suffer from GERD (I have a hiatus hernia )and this product was specifically recommended to me. I find this along with the Lozenges having a soothing effect on my throat and oesophagus, although I need to use it long term to see if it has a more lasting efficacy. I am hopeful! It is a very pleasant tasting remedy!"

"I like to keep Manuka Honey, Lozenges and Syrup just in case a cold or sore throat appear. After just one day of taking Manuka products the problem starts to go."

"I take manuka honey for medical reasons. Its properties are excellent."

  • Black tea prepared with black pepper powder, dry ginger powder and basil(tulsi) leaves. This tea can be taken 3 to 4 times a day to get relief from runny nose, head-ache, and sore-throat. It is as good as aspirin or paracetamol tablets.
