You get what you pay for. "Nature's Way - Thisilyn, 2X Maximum Absorption Formula - Liver Support Formula" has improved my liver function numbers over the years. I take this pill only once a day but you may take one pill three times a day before meals if you chose. "Thisilyn is especially recommended for those who use alcohol, smoke, or are exposed to environmental pollutants.

I don't smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs. I eat a balanced diet and it works for me.

  • The German E Commission (their equivalent of the FDA) states that Milk Thistle (silymariin) is effective at protecting, cleansing and even regenerating the liver.

In the Berkson Clinical Study, three women who were facing imminent liver failure and looking at eiher the horrific side effects of interferon (which is only about 5% successful to begin with) or else liver transplants, were given milk thistle, selenium and alpha-lipoic acid and advice to make healthy changes in their diets and lifestyles. All three had their liver functions restored to normal.

Other items which are good for the liver include:

Coffee enemas - help open the bile ducts so bile and toxins can be released properly.

Coconut oil - a wonderful item everyone should take, it helps maintain a good bile flow.

Beetroot juice - is also good for the liver and bile flow.

Turmeric (curcumin) - helps regulate bile flow.

High choline soy lecithin can help reverse a fatty liver, especially when combined with GTF chromium and a diet that is mostly raw, mostly organic vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and tubors.

Dandelion tea is also effective for cleansing and protecting the liver.

Whatever you decide to use, make sure you get a quality, highly bioavailable form (which usually is not the case with over the counter supplements).
