Looking for a liquid fish oil/omega 3.?

Resolved Question

Looking for a liquid fish oil/omega 3.?

I'm having a gastric bypass in a month and need to start taking liquid/powder supplements...does anyone have a recommendation as to their favourite liquid fish oil/Omega 6? I'm going to put it in a shake, and (ideally) would like something rather tasteless and high EPA/DHA!

I've been lookinng at Super Max EPA by TwinLabs and also Coromega. I work at a high-end vitamin company, too, but we only have softgels that smell like fish!
Thanks!

First, just to be clear (even though you probably just misspoke) - you DON'T want anything with omega-6. The reason everyone needs omega-3 so badly is that our modern diet has thrown the body's omega-6/omega-3 ratio severely out of whack (think 20:1 rather than 4:1), so taking omega-6 just contributes to the problem.

I've heard good things about Coromega. I also work for a company that sells liquid fish oil in a bottle, and because it's fresh and has been kept frozen it has no taste (seriously!). A daily dose is two teaspoons (10 mL) and that contains 1,005 mg each of EPA and DHA. If you're interested, the site is http://www.omega-cure.com . Good luck!

  • Hi, this is Nicole from Coromega. Mary – Thank you for recommending Coromega! We're glad to know you've heard great things about us! You're right, omega-3s are the essential fatty acids that people need more of to balance out the disproportionately high intake of omega-6s. Stephie – We're glad to hear you have been considering Coromega! We understand that many people can't stand the fishy taste of most liquids and softgels which is why we developed Coromega! It tastes amazing mixed in with shakes – I personally love adding it to our peach and strawberry Breakfast Shake (check out our recipe on the Coromega site: http://coromega.com/coromega/images/smoothie_recipe.gif. We'd be happy to send you a sample to try out!
  • cod liver oil.
It is high in Omega 3's
You are not going to get away from the fish smell or taste unless you use flax seed oil. Thats not so tasty either.
You could check out walnut oil. I know walnuts have omega 3 so it would stand to reason that the oil would as well.
  • I take nordic naturals.. it is high in EPA and DHA.. Although I take the gel cap, the liquid is not so bad either. It does not smell and no fish burps:) if you are putting it into a shake it should be tasteless.
  • go to www.iherb.com and see what they may have for you there. if you use promo code jar025 you can get $5.00 off your purchase.
