What is the best / least expensive omega3 supplement available?

Resolved Question

What is the best / least expensive omega3 supplement available?

My doctor told me yesterday that my good cholesterol is quite low which puts me at a higher risk for heart problems or stroke & I need to incorporate a good omega3 / fish oil supplement to my diet along with eating fresh tuna or other fish at least 2 times a week.

Do you know of a good supplement or meal suggestion to help me raise my good cholesterol?

Thanks

Flaxseed are rich in both omega 3 and 6. They're not very expensive and you can add them to your salads to give a bit of texture and flavour.

  • The cheapest place to buy fish oil is www.vitacost.com and www.swansonvitamins.com By the way tuna is not the best source if omega 3's wild salmon and herring is. You can see that if you do a nutrient search for omega 3's at http://www.nutritiondata.com/foods-015140000000000000000-w.html
Don't eat farmed salmon or any fish farmed raised. Most of them live in there own feces and urine. Only buy wild caught. Even if you can only afford fish from the can. By far though the best way to boost your DHA and omega 3's is to buy a fish oil supplement. Good luck.

  • Eating fish is good as long as you eat oily fish. Note that fish are contaminated with some toxins and the FDA warns against eating too much.

Generally the best Omega 3 supplements should be clean. They will also be something you can take daily, easily. They are relatively simple to take. Not all supplements are good ones though.

The site below discusses a lot of the issues related to taking Omega 3 supplements and how to find good ones.

Contains Omega 3 along with vitamins A,D, and E.

I take in capsule form. Quality over price is the rule of thumb here.
